The Profound Secret of Saturn’s Transit in Devakeralam (Chandra Kala Nadi)
by Dipesh Patel

In our previous article, we explored some significant sutras from Devakeralam (Chandra Kala Nadi). Today, continuing the same series, we shall analyze a very subtle and profound sutra related to Saturn’s transit.
Sutra Analysis – Part 1, Shloka 420:
This sutra says:
“The Sun, being the significator of the father — the zodiacal degree, minutes, and seconds of the Sun, combined with the sign placement of the 9th lord (Navamesh) — the degree, minutes, and seconds of the lord of that sign… the resultant position derived from the total of these two sets of degrees forms a new sign. When Saturn transits that sign or its trines, a fatal or death-like event may occur in the father’s life.”
This sutra reveals how Saturn’s transit can have deep and subtle effects, particularly on the father’s life, through intricate calculations.
Interpretation of the Sutra:
This sutra makes it clear that in transit analysis, not just the general placement of planets, but also the exact degrees (rashi, kala, vikalas) matter significantly. It provides a special transit-sensitive point, similar to the Bhrigu Bindu.
This principle can also be applied to other relations — such as the mother (from Moon and 4th lord), wife, children, etc.
In house-based results, not just the house lord’s placement, but the condition and placement of the dispositor (ruler of the sign occupied by the house lord) also influences the results.
Another insight from the sutra is the vital role of the dispositor in determining outcomes.

Case Studies:
Chart 1: Male Native
- Sun in Leo
- 9th lord Jupiter’s sign lord: Moon in Libra
- Resultant point from combined degrees: Pisces (14:53:45)
Transit: Saturn transited Pisces when the native was around 18 years old.
Result: Tremendous progress in father’s career.
Conclusion: Transit was highly auspicious, not malefic.
Chart 2: Male Native
- Resultant sign: Gemini (11:11:49)
- Saturn’s Transit: 2002–2004
Result: No health issues for father; instead, a new house was built.
Conclusion: Again, auspicious result.

Chart 3: Female Native
- Resultant sign: Capricorn (07:13:42)
- Saturn’s Transit: 2020–2022
Result: Father’s best phase in life – significant income and prosperity.
Conclusion: Transit produced very positive results.
Chart 4: Male Native
- Resultant sign: Sagittarius (28:24:36)
- Saturn’s Transit: 2017 – Jan 2020
Result: Father passed away during this period.
Further Analysis:
- Sagittarius was under malefic influence:
- Jupiter (lord) in 12th house
- Malefic Sun and Moon
- Mars-Ketu affliction
Application for Mother’s Life:
- Moon and 4th lord Mercury’s composite sign: Cancer (09:52:48)
- Saturn Transit: 2005–06
Result: Mother’s health deteriorated.
Conclusion: The sutra proved accurate again.
Key Takeaways:
- Saturn’s transit is not inherently good or bad. It simply activates a house or point.
- The result depends on that house’s inherent condition in the birth chart (benefic/malefic/mixed).
- If Saturn transits through or from a benefic house, results are excellent. If from a malefic house, the outcome can be painful, even fatal.
Further Illustration (from Chart 1):
- Resultant sign Pisces → 9th house (Bhagya Sthana)
- Ketu placed there → Mars-like traits (righteousness, courage)
- Jupiter’s aspect → Knowledge, auspicious results
- Mars + Rahu influence → Ambition, managerial skills
- Strong Sun → Strong and respected father
Conclusion: Pisces was highly auspicious. Hence, Saturn’s transit from there gave excellent results.
Final Note:
Sutras must not be interpreted literally but should be understood in their esoteric and coded essence.
Every sutra must be tested and verified through practical chart analysis.
Conclusion:
This sutra related to Saturn’s transit teaches us that Saturn does not always bring misfortune. Its results are based on the quality and power of the house it activates.
Thus, Saturn should not be feared, but recognized as a triggering force of the Kaal Chakra (Wheel of Time).
