S. Patel in his pre-1985 writings. What makes this formulation particularly compelling is its reliance on transit alone — without the aid of any Dasa system — though subsequent confirmation through Dasa and other Yogas naturally reinforces the finding

The Underlying Principle

This sutra operates on what may be called the first derivative of the transit principle. The 4th house, in this context, is not being read for its conventional significations of home or mother — rather, it is being read as the 8th from the 9th house. Since the 9th house represents the father, the 8th therefrom naturally governs longevity, misfortune, and transformation as they pertain to him.

The rule thus establishes a conditional set: when Saturn — the natural malefic and karaka of delay, illness, and death — transits in trine to the Navamsha sign of the 4th lord, and simultaneously aspects the relevant sign, conditions ripen for serious affliction or danger to the father’s physical body.

The beauty of this formulation lies in its elegant formulation: a single transit configuration, read through the lens of Navamsha can reveal a life event of the gravest personal magnitude — independent of Dasaentirely.

Case Study: Smt. Indira Gandhi

To demonstrate the practical application of this rule, we examine the nativity of Smt. Indira Gandhi and verify the condition for the demise of her father, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on 27 May 1964.

BIRTH DETAILS — SMT. INDIRA GANDHI

Date of Birth

19 November 1917

Time of Birth

23:11 hrs

Place of Birth

Allahabad

Event Date

27 May 1964

Transit Analysis for 27 May 1964

In Smt. Gandhi’s nativity, Venus is the lord of the 4th house, and it occupies the Navamsha of Libra — its own sign. Both Venus and Saturn are placed at approximately 21° in the natal chart. Per the sutra, we watch for Saturn transiting the Navamsha sign of the 4th lord (Libra) or its trine.

On the day of Nehru’s passing, Saturn was transiting through Aquarius in the 8th house of her natal chart. Aquarius forms the trine to Libra (the Navamsha sign of the 4th lord), satisfying the primary condition of the verse precisely.

Furthermore, on the transit day, Venus and Saturn were converging near 11°–13°, forming a near-exact Sphuṭa Yoga — closely echoing condition in formulation , thereby activating the second condition of the verse as well.

SUPPORTING FACTORS IN TRANSIT

Venus and Rahu in transit were moving through Gemini in the 12th house of her natal chart, directly aspecting natal Venus and Rahu in the 6th house (Sagittarius). This activated the 4th house axis for affliction, linking the 4th lord to the 12th house of loss.

Saturn in transit was in its own sign Aquarius in the 8th house — and natal Saturn, the 8th lord, is positioned in the Ascendant. In transit, Saturn was 10th from the Sun, which by the retrograde principle in Nadi Granthas establishes a connection to the 7th house, adding a further aspect to the natal Saturn in the 1st house.

Jupiter, the Mahadasa lord, owns the 9th house (the house of the father) and 6th house in her chart. In transit, Jupiter was aspecting both the 4th and 6th houses — directly connecting to the Navamsha of the 4th lord and its significations. Critically, Jupiter was transiting through Taurus, which is itself the Navamsha sign of the 4th house lord — a powerful secondary confirmation.

Saturn in the 8th house (in transit) cast its 3rd aspect on Jupiter in the 10th house — further linking the death-inflicting planet to the Dasa lord governing the father.

DASA CONFIRMATION

On 27 May 1964, Smt. Gandhi was running the Jupiter – Venus – Jupiter Dasa sequence. Jupiter (Vargottama, and 9th lord) and Venus (4th lord, whose Navamsha sign triggered the entire chain) together as Dasa and Antardasa lords bring the natal promise squarely into fruition — confirming through the Dasa system precisely what the transit had already foretold

Conclusion

This case demonstrates with remarkable clarity how a transit rule preserved in the Naditradition — without reference to any Dasa — can pinpoint an event of profound personal significance. The formulation of rasi tulya Navamsha as applied through the 4th lord’s Navamsha sign offers the practitioner a precise, testable condition. When validated in concert with the Dasasystem and supporting transits, it elevates predictive astrology from approximation to near-surgical precision

The Gray Zones of Vedic Astrology: Rasi Tulya Navamsha-Navamsha Tulya Rashi By Astromate Anupam Shukla · Among the

[25,40,58,41

post-2521","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-advance-astrology-1","category-advance-astrology","category-knowledge-hub","category-guest-desk
https://astrosutras.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Untitled-design-69.png",1280,720,false
https://astrosutras.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Untitled-design-69-150x150.png",150,150,true
https://astrosutras.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Untitled-design-69-300x169.png",300,169,true
https://astrosutras.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Untitled-design-69-768x432.png",640,360,true
https://astrosutras.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Untitled-design-69-1024x576.png",640,360,true],"1536x1536":["https://astrosutras.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Untitled-design-69.png",1280,720,false],"2048x2048":["https://astrosutras.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Untitled-design-69.png",1280,720,false
https://astrosutras.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Untitled-design-69-825x575.png",825,575,true
https://astrosutras.in/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Untitled-design-69-590x410.png",590,410,true
Anupam Shukla
Advance Astrology Astro-Logics Knowledge Hub Renowned Astrologers Desk
["GET
